چکیده

Bioremediation using microorganisms is a promising technique to remediate soil contaminated with heavy metals. In this study, Sporosarcina pasteurii (S. pasteurii) bioremediation by mixing method was used soils lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd). A significant reduction of metal leaching concentrations observed in S. bio-treated samples. Furthermore, urease hydrolyzing bacteria have additional advantages accelerating precipitation increasing pH. The soluble-exchangeable Pb, Zn Cd reduced 33.3 % ? 85.9 %, 21.4 66.0 13.6 29.9 respectively after bioremediation. primary objective stabilization achieved reducing the bioavailability through immobilizing urease-driven carbonate precipitation. Luminescent toxicity experiments revealed that pasteurii. When subjected severe environmental conditions, superior chemical technology terms long-term stability.

Sequestration of Radionuclides and Metal Contaminants through Microbially-Induced Carbonate Precipitation

Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP), an emerging technology for soil improvement, also may be used to sequester (biomineralize) radionuclides and metal contaminants (e.g., 90 Sr 2+ , Cd 2+ ) in groundwater, a significant problem at some U.S. Department of Energy sites. Previous work using the bacterium Bacillus pasteurii suggests that in-situ sequestration of these contaminants c...

Biotic and abiotic effects on CO2 sequestration during microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation.

In this study, CO2 sequestration was investigated through the microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) process with isolates obtained from a cave called 'Cave Without A Name' (Boerne, TX, USA) and the Pamukkale travertines (Denizli, Turkey). The majority of the bacterial isolates obtained from these habitats belonged to the genera Sporosarcina, Brevundimonas, Sphingobacterium ...

Bioremediation of Uranium Contaminated Soils and Wastes

Contamination of soils, water, and sediments by radionuclides and toxic metals from uranium mill tailings, nuclear fuel manufacturing and nuclear weapons production is a major concern. Studies of the mechanisms of biotransformation of uranium and toxic metals under various microbial process conditions has resulted in the development of two treatment processes: (i) stabilization of uranium and t...
